The company Telstra is currently following the top line organizational structure along with a leadership team. According to CEO Andrew Penn, the new organizational structure of Telstra will be useful in driving the integrated technology and products (Winnubst, 2017). Also, the top line organization structure will provide the company a complete roadmap for Telstra which will help in delivering the simple and innovative product experiences which can lead the market and drive towards profitable growth. 

Operational problems that Telstra could face due to this structure

 

Lack of specialization- The Company Telstra is currently following top line organizational structure due to which it can face the lack of specialization. This is because as per this organizational structure, the company’s activities will be under the supervision of top-management (Jones, 2013). This may decrease the efforts of departmental managers and can result in decreased efficiency. 

 

Inflexibility and rigidity- This is another major disadvantage of top line organizational structure that Telstra could face. As all the activities of the company will be mainly supervised by the top-management which will ultimately reduce the role of departmental managers and other employees. This situation will create inflexibility and rigidity within the operations of the company. 

 

Lack of progress- Due to this system, the company is likely to face the lack of efficiency and specialization (Jones, 2013). As a result, it can decrease the performance of the organization and can restrict the profitability growth. Further, it can also impact the performance of the employees and departmental managers who are specialized in diverse areas.
